What is a climate refugee?

A person who has to leave his/her home due to natural disasters caused by climate change, such as : droughts, inundations and erosions.

According to researchers the number of climate refugees could increase soon, as the Middle East and North Africa could become to hot for human life. Temperatures south of the Mediterranean may reach around 46 degrees Celsius (approx. 114 degrees Fahrenheit) by mid-century. Such extremely hot days will occur five times more often than was the case at the turn of the millennium.
